About Cadence

My name is Cadence McCracken, APCC. I’m a white queer trans woman, expressive arts therapist, poet, and artist living in Oakland, CA. I am friendly and authentic and gravitate towards experiential therapies such as Expressive Arts Therapy and somatics. I utilize relational and narrative therapy styles to help clients write and re-write stories of clients’ deeper struggles, relationships, and resilience.

In my career as a performance poet and teaching artist, I learned the power and catharsis of artistic expression to heal all kinds of wounds. I experienced how the arts bring meaning to painful experiences in myself and participants in my shows, classes, and workshops. As a graduate of the California Institute of Integral Studies, I offer the creative arts therapies for healing and liberation.

In my spare time I love spending time with my children, trail running, painting, and creative writing. I am currently an MFA candidate in poetry at the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers.
